About
I began my Engineering career with the US Navy as an Electronic Communications Engineer. Graduating top of my class I continued serving for another 10 years during which time receiving numerous awards including a Navy Achievement Medal for the development of an asset management and tracking program. This was my first venture of using programming code to solve real world issues. I first transitioned into private sector broadcasting at WAGT, an NBC affiliate in Augusta GA and moved up through markets in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, and Miami, developing a reputation for forward thinking innovations in file-based workflow and technological applications. I eventually was brought in to serve as Chief Engineer at WBTV and made Charlotte, NC my home.
Now as Director of Technology and Operations for that same CBS affiliate, I lead a talented team of engineers and IT professionals who set the pace for technological advancements industry wide. Our innovative applications of cutting-edge technology led to me instituting a lab for innovative applications of broadcast technology. My station’s Charlotte campus hosts manufactures from across the country as well as internationally including sparking collaborations with engineers and product developers in Italy, Germany, and as far away as Japan. My role with Gray TV also takes me around the country to assist other TV stations in implementing the latest modernizations.

With an eye toward the future and a knack for all things electronic, I saw the lines between engineering and computer science fusing at the intersection where I stood and dove into the art and craft of coding. I believe the future engineer needs to also be a programmer and am taking this MIT course to fill in the holes along my self-taught journey under the tutelage of top-notch professors at a world class institution that’s always been my dream school.
